Active — Journey is an American rock band formed in 1973 in San Francisco, best known for the anthem "Don't Stop Believin'." They remain active, still touring in the 2020s.

Journey formed in San Francisco in 1973, the brainchild of former Santana members including guitarist Neal Schon. After a progressive-rock start, the band transformed in the late 1970s into one of the defining arena-rock acts in America, powered by the soaring voice of frontman Steve Perry. Their 1981 album "Escape" and its follow-ups produced some of the most enduring rock anthems ever written, including "Don't Stop Believin'," "Open Arms" and "Any Way You Want It."

The band's signature anthemic choruses and glossy production made them gigantic in the 1980s, selling out stadiums and becoming one of the most successful rock groups of the era. "Don't Stop Believin'" in particular became a cultural touchstone, enjoying an extraordinary second life decades after its release thanks to film, television and sports.

Like many long-running bands, Journey went through lineup changes and periods of upheaval. Steve Perry left in the late 1990s, and the band continued with a rotating cast of singers — most notably Arnel Pineda, a Filipino singer discovered on YouTube who has led the band since 2007. Journey remains a popular touring act, consistently playing the songs that made them famous to new generations.
