Cher, born Cherilyn Sarkisian in 1946, rose to fame in the 1960s as part of the duo Sonny & Cher. Her solo hits, including "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves" and "If I Could Turn Back Time," made her a chart regular across decades.

Her most iconic musical moment came in 1998 with "Believe," a dance-pop smash that topped charts worldwide and pioneered the use of Auto-Tune as a vocal effect. The song and its music video repositioned Cher as a pop diva and introduced her to a whole new generation.

Cher's acting career is just as celebrated. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in "Moonstruck" (1987), having earlier earned a nomination for "Silkwood."
