Adele went from a promising London singer to one of the best-selling artists in music history. After two years of Las Vegas residency shows that ended in 2024, she is on a break — with reports in 2026 pointing to a comeback.
A stunning debut
Adele announced herself with the 2008 album 19, a collection of soulful songs including "Chasing Pavements" and "Hometown Glory". Her rich voice and confessional writing made her an instant critical and commercial success.
The "21" phenomenon
The 2011 album 21 made her a global superstar. Songs like "Rolling in the Deep", "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire to the Rain" turned it into one of the best-selling albums of all time, and a wave of awards followed.
The Las Vegas residency
In 2022 Adele began "Weekends with Adele", a long-running residency in Las Vegas that she extended over roughly two years before bringing it to an end in 2024. The shows were a defining part of her recent chapter, in a format she had not used before.
Where Adele is now
Since the residency ended, Adele has largely stepped back from performing to focus on family, moving between the UK and the US. As of 2026 there are reports she is planning a return to music — but for now she is a superstar on a well-earned break.
