Everest is part of the Himalayan range, formed by the collision of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. It is known by different names in the region: 'Sagarmatha' in Nepal and 'Chomolungma' in Tibet.

Since Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reached the summit in 1953, Everest has become the ultimate challenge for mountaineers and one of the most iconic places on the planet. It is also a place of both triumph and tragedy, shaped by the extreme conditions of the high altitude and by the climate and geography of the mountains.
